Docketing Improvements
Law Engine: Auto Close Tasks
This feature helps you quickly clean up open tasks when a Patent, Trademark, or Design case is marked as dead. When enabled, the system will prompt you to close all open tasks for that case — saving you from manual task-by-task updates.

How It Works
Feature Toggle (Admin action)
The option is controlled in:
Setup → Custom Settings → Docketing Configuration → Task auto closing when case is dead
Checked = Feature is active
Unchecked = Feature disabled (no popup appears)
Enabled by default.
Trigger Conditions
The confirmation popup appears when:
The case Is Alive = False (i.e., status changed to Dead)
There is at least 1 open task linked to the case
The feature toggle is enabled
Popup Display
Message example:
“Your case PAT456ST is now marked as dead. Do you want to close 3 open tasks?”
Two action buttons:
Close All Tasks → Marks all open tasks as Done
Keep Tasks Open → Leaves tasks unchanged
Status Automation Based on Prosecution Dates
Equinox Corporate+ now supports automatic updates of the case status for Trademarks, Patents, and Designs based on key prosecution events (e.g., application, publication, registration, grant, abandonment). This automation ensures accurate status progression without manual input, reducing the risk of oversight.
How It Works

Case Links: Priority Links on Family
Case Links – New Automation for Priority Fields on Families
We’ve enhanced the Case Links feature with a new automation that calculates priority-related fields on the family level for Patents, Trademarks, and Designs.
How it works:
Scans all family members to find links to priority applications.
If multiple priorities are found, selects the one with the earliest application date.
Uses this application to populate the family’s Patent/Trademark/Design Priority Date and Priority Patent/Trademark/Design fields.
Why this matters:
Works with any type of filing to identify all priority applications.
Supports priorities outside the family, including Third Party Right applications.
Activation:
This automation replaces the older process (from before Case Links was introduced). It’s configurable and by default it is inactive. Please contact your Solution Engineer to enable it.
Setup → Custom Settings → Docketing Configuration → Multiple Priority Application Automation
Automatically populated fields on Patent Family:

Mass Update
The Mass Update feature enables Admin and Standard Users to efficiently update field values across multiple records — either directly on the current object (e.g., Patent) or on related records (e.g., Entity, Inventor). It leverages current list views and ensures updates are processed in batches with error-handling and reporting.

Use Cases
Update “Managing Associate” across 1,000 patents.
Change “Ownership Type” on all Entities linked to selected patents.
Modify Application Dates for filtered trademarks.
Where You’ll Find It
List Views for all core objects:
Family, Patent, Design, Trademark, General Matter, Invention Disclosure, Conflict, Contact, Account, Task, Invoice, Invoice Line, Renewals, Third Party Right
Button Label: “Mass Update”
Select Records
If records are selected in the list: the update will apply only to these.
If no selection, the entire list view filter scope is used.
You can choose to update:
The current object
A related object (e.g., Entity, Inventor, Goods & Services)
- You can choose the direction of the relation
- Parent (Family, Invoices...)
- Child (Entities, Inventors, Goods and Services, Case links...
- You can choose the direction of the relation
Optional Filter on Current Value
Check the box “Add a filter on the current value” if you want to:

Review Summary
Confirms object, field, record count.
Shows:
Current Value → New Value(if a filter was applied)New Valueonly (if no filter used)

Error Reporting
After each mass update, you will receive an in-app notification upon completion. A detailed email report will also be sent, listing the status of each record. If any errors occur, the report will include the corresponding error messages.
Pavis Renewals Integration
Grace Period Date Integration
The field "Final Due Date (Grace Period)" on the Renewal object is now automatically populated using the PAVIS API response.
- The system fetches the payment term linked to the maximum delay (e.g., 6 months grace).
- This ensures better visibility on the final actionable date for annuity payments.
SPC Field Mapping in Import Calls
Equinox now supports SPC field mapping in all relevant PAVIS calls: P, N, L, and Z.
Key Functions:
Sends
<spc_startdate>and<spc_enddate>in the API payloadAutomatically calculates SPC End Date based on:
SPC Start Date
Marketing Authorisation Date
Parent Patent Date
Supports Paediatric Extension (adds 6 months)
Validation rules ensure:
Max duration of 5 years
Extension only when criteria are met
Country Validation for SPC Patent Creation
A trigger validation has been added to enforce that SPC patents can only be created for the following 28 countries (see detailed in the associated Jira ticket)
Patent PTO Comparison: improvements
Bulk Management of PTO Comparison Suggestions
You can now review and act on multiple PTO data suggestions in bulk directly from the PTO Comparison Manager. This speeds up validation and improves productivity for users managing high volumes of patent data updates. Go to the App launcher and access the "PTO Comparison Manager" page:
Key Features
Grouped by Family or patent: Suggestions are displayed under each related Family with a count of Pending items or at the patent level.
Current vs Suggested Values: Easily compare existing data with proposed updates from PTO sources.
- Search and filter :
- Search any patent reference or title
- Filter by suggested fields, country, and manage the sort-by
Bulk Action Buttons:
✅ Accept All – Apply all suggestions within a family.
❌ Decline All – Reject all suggestions within a family.
? Uncheck All – Reset decisions to undecided.
Manual Control Per Field:
Use dropdowns to accept or decline individual suggestions for each data field (Application Date, Publication Number, etc.).

Improved Handling of Multiple Matches in PTO Connection Status
A new status value “Multiple Matches Found” has been added to the PTO Connection Status field. If several potential PTO matches are detected and the Pending Connection checkbox is checked, the status will now clearly indicate that multiple candidates exist — helping users resolve connection ambiguity faster.
Automatic Population of Patent Links via APID
When parsing iOrbit data, key external links — Permalink, Register Link, and Latest Publication (PDF) — are now directly written to the Patent record, without generating update suggestions. This enhancement improves the accuracy and immediacy of patent data linkage, eliminating redundant batches and streamlining the update flow.
Auto-Cleanup of Country Prefixes on iOrbit Numbers
For Application, Publication, and Grant numbers returned by iOrbit, any leading country code (e.g., "US", "EP") is now automatically stripped before saving. This ensures cleaner, standardized number formatting across the platform, reducing duplication and improving match reliability.
Check Digit Calculation for Specific Patent Countries
Application numbers retrieved from iOrbit for EP, DE, CN, and BR are now automatically completed with a check digit, forming a format like 12345678.9. This digit is dynamically calculated based on each authority’s rules and ensures consistency with official PTO standards. The logic is embedded in the update suggestion batches and handled by a new CheckDigit class for maintainability.
Trademark International Extension Workflow: Copy WO data
We have updated our Trademark Extension Workflow to make it more efficient when extending your first filing internationally.
How it works:
Add the Application Date, Application Number, and Status in the WIPO line.
Upon saving, the system will automatically populate the same information into each designation listed.
Note: This applies only to initial WIPO registrations.
