Below you will find a glossary of the different status types which exist with EC+ broken down by case type.

Status (Patents/Designs)

Submission: This status indicates that this case is intended to be submitted as a patent application. It signifies the initial stage of the patent application process, where the application is formally lodged for preparation to be filed (no longer just an invention disclosure).

Approved for Filing: This status indicates that the patent application has been reviewed and deemed acceptable for filing. It signifies that the application meets the formal requirements for submission and can proceed to the next stage of the application process.

Pending: This status indicates that the patent application is currently under review by the patent office. It signifies that the application is awaiting examination and a decision on its patentability.

Granted: This status indicates that the patent application has been successfully examined and approved by the patent office. It signifies that the patent rights have been officially granted, providing legal protection for the invention described in the application.

Abandoned: This status indicates that the patent application has been abandoned by the applicant or rejected by the patent office. It signifies that the application will not proceed further in the patent application process and will not result in the granting of patent rights.

Expired: This status indicates that the patent rights associated with a granted patent have reached the end of their term and are no longer in effect. It signifies that the patent has reached its expiration date and is no longer enforceable.

Lapsed: This status indicates that the patent rights associated with a granted patent have lapsed due to failure to pay maintenance fees or comply with other obligations. It signifies that the patent is no longer in force and has lost its legal protection.

Revoked: This status indicates that the patent rights associated with a granted patent have been revoked by the patent office or invalidated by a court decision. It signifies that the patent is no longer valid and has been declared null and void.
